Finally, at long last, after much sweating and grunting, I have the pictures in hand for you, the people, to judge. Without further ado, let the judging BEGIN!

My two favorites are 1)http://www.baizman.net/blog/images/competition6-tm.jpg and 2)http://www.baizman.net/blog/images/competition4-tm.jpg.

I vote for orange cat on red ground (#2?). that pic is gorgeous. that’s all I’m sayin.
May 22nd, 2003 at 11:30 pm
I vote for #1 the escalator deal, with #2 the greek god thing, #3 the crowded market, #4 the rapi thing, and #5 and #6 don’t register with me….Cats are boring. Do you capture dogs?
BTW - the escalator and the crowded vestibule are eerily familiar sights to the O’Hare airport…..

I vote for the blue globe building…when I first looked at it, I thought it was fake. Its that good
May 22nd, 2003 at 11:58 pm
My favorite is #4, (I think?)…the one of the building. I love art and architecture.

I vote for 5, escalator to sayonara.

After much badgering, I am now rendering my opinion(s). Despite my well-known fondness for kitty-cats, I am going to vote entirely on aesthetic mertis: thus, I have to say that my favorites are #3 (for the mysteriously artful juxtaposition of visual elements) and #4 (which beats out the other depth-of-field photo, #2, for its slightly more centered & abstract composition). Yes, I spend all day at an art school, and it’s beginning to affect my brain.

Cat on red background wins my number one, then the escalator from hell number 2. i love the other perspective driven one, but the framing just don’t cut the mustard with this judge. ‘cat staring at pigeon’ is beautiful composition wise, but the lighting blew it for me. i want to say how brilliant i think these are though. nice job to the both of youse.

My vote is for the people mover / escalator (image #5). I like how the roof frames the image, and the similarities in the shape of the roof and the hand rail.
May 23rd, 2003 at 1:25 am
At first I found the big ball said “rapist”. I found it scary yet wonderfully framed. Then I saw the cat in the second picture looking up at the ball. That’s cute. I like the combination of the cat looking up at the scary word ball.

Okay. I love the red wall/cat shot. Adore it. Nice color and contrast - really rich. BUT - my final vote has to go with the escalator/electirc walkway shot (#5). It is beautiful compositionally through and through. But, it was very close - just like Ruben and Clay…

I really dig the people mover. Very Bauhaus.
May 23rd, 2003 at 3:34 am
My vote goes to “cat and wall” (love the colors) and “god and building” (nice juxtaposition, great perspective)–the other urban landscapes just don’t move me, alas.
May 23rd, 2003 at 3:51 am
I like #5 - the moving walkway/concourse one. It looks like a cover shot for Marc’s yet-to-be-released ambient music album. I also love the graceful curves in it.
May 23rd, 2003 at 4:03 am
I vote for #4, the Greek God. I love Greek Gods.
May 23rd, 2003 at 7:51 am
Vote here is for #3. The colors, the movement, the smells — oh, wait, this isn’t Smell-O-Vision, is it? — narrowly edge out the stiff competition.
May 23rd, 2003 at 11:30 pm
I vote for the kitty!
May 24th, 2003 at 3:40 am
I’m torn between the Rock Center picture and the cat stalking the uncapturable pidgeon from th edarkness. So call this two votes.
May 24th, 2003 at 6:46 am
Overall #3, then #4. #6 is a distant 3rd.
Breakdown:
#1 Huh? a billboard?
#2 Cat fur is brilliant, otherwise.. bleh.
#3 On composition.. the triangular sign (facing away) in the perspected cone from the ceiling.. brings you directly to the woman glancing backwards.. a singularity in chaos.. I like!
#4 I like.. window trail versus death-ray beard.. this one gets better and better.
#5 Too much– makes me feel like I’m late for a flight.
#6 Good comp’n, could use some touch-up.
May 24th, 2003 at 7:33 pm
No contest…the people mover.
May 26th, 2003 at 10:17 am
I vote for #4 — looking up at God & the gates of his kingdom. Nice perspective.
May 27th, 2003 at 7:20 am
i like the one taken of the skyscraper taken from under the mural of the guy with the beard. i know its not in the contest but i also especially like the one of baizman and his friend (whoever she is?!) because its good to see his face!! miss you buddy.

#2 - the cat on the red wall.
May 27th, 2003 at 12:39 pm
The study in perspectives caught my eye, but Boo Radley will always be first in my heart.
May 27th, 2003 at 1:06 pm
the perspective-study (guy with the beard) gets my vote. love the stonework. like your take on this omnipotent creature; wrestling with the inumerable tasks of manipulating the earth and its inhabitants, yet still remembering to thoroughly protect the most important parts of his anatomy.
May 28th, 2003 at 12:42 am
escalators first, then the rapi:t globe

Marc, where’s the web form to input my results? What a hack job of an ecomm site you’re running here… oh, sorry. Now that I examine it closer, I see it’s a website for your own pleasure. That just didn’t make sense to me.
Anyway, Michelle just walked by and told me to vote. NOW. So, my favorite out of this lovely lot is the Man with Come Hither Look and Rainbow for Penis. I think he’s from Rock Center someplace, which means I could go find him at lunch and see if he’s busy after work.
After that, I most like Kitty with Red Door. But you know I’d vote for a kitty pix.
Hope you are well!

Okay, okay… After being hounded by Michele, I will finally cast my vote - Cat on red background. There, I’ve said it. I have a weakness for cats!
May 28th, 2003 at 12:24 pm
after long deliberation, soul searching, and harassment by one of the participants, i am ready to cast my vote. my first choice is #5, moving sidewalk and my second choice is #4, rock center frieze. (is it a frieze or is it called something else?)
and by the by, kitties are cute.
