Earthquake!

Japan had a major earthquake last night during rush hour in the northern part of the main island Honshu, an area called Tohoku. It measured 7 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was off the east coast so everyone in the area got a good rattle. About 70 people were injured, but for such a huge quake, this is actually pretty good, and no one was killed.

I didn’t feel anything, but Osaka’s pretty far away. I’ll find out about Ben tonight. As for the contest, you have one more day, Tuesday, to vote, and then we’re tallying things up to see who the winner is!
By the way, this is Bush taking Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for a ride in Texas:

I just read the most fabulous adventure web diary… really moving and compeling… especially the pictures of the toilet and cereal boxes.
Wow this internet thing is way too cool.
I was looking for you to catch up on stuff and to introduce you to some of my friends living in NY but alas…. I’m about 6 months behind the Where in the World is “Marc Baizman” (you should hear me do that in four part acappella) game.
I feal like changing my name to Carmen…. I digress.
I am very very glad to see your picture and know you are well.

I was so excited reading about your life and writing you I did not comment on your news.
7.+ is a big quake – glad it turned out well for all living there.
If I was going to write a caption for both pictures it would read
Wreak waiting to happen!
hahaha – I amuse myself too much!

Daishinsai!
But if you didn’t feel it, it doesn’t count.
I’m glad so few (relatively) people were hurt. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t on the news. Of course, it is Memorial Day, so who’s watching the news?
Went to Chicago – saw Second City, but didn’t have time to repeat the rest of our antics from last summer.

I thought that it was Jackie Chan with Bush. In my mind, it became a buddy movie. However, it was no Chris Tucker or Owen Wilson … So, then I became incredibly sad and disheartened that our President would indulge in such tomfoolery. And, being a Texan like he is, why he would want to even try to fill the GREAT AND POWERFUL OWEN’s boots.
Luckily, my eyes wandered to the caption and was greatly relieved. ‘Cause that ain’t no Jackie Chan!

PS – I’m working reception right now and MICHAEL FEINSTEIN is standing in front of me having this long, long confersation about the world today. Fo Shizzle.
