A new co-worker...and I'm sick.

Last night we had a party for a new teacher who's starting next week. Shawn, the current teacher, is leaving next Wednesday and Edward will be taking over. He's a little older (read: 50's) so it should be interesting seeing how well he fits in with the current crop of spring chickens currently at AEON.

So the steady stream of coughing, hacking people going in and out of my class has finally caught up with me. I'm sick and taking it easy this weekend. I'm just kind of laying around, using tissues by the bucketload. Maybe I'll get my act together and finally finish editing the video of my apartment.

In the meantime, here's some pictures of t-shirts.

I checked your site today just to make sure you weren't sick! When I said, "Oh no! Marc's sick!" Tom looked at me as if to say so what. But then I said, "But didn't you hear about the deadly flu over there?!" So I hope you get better and don't have the deadly flu because you're fun to have around even if you keep moving further away from us.

Thanks for the kind words, Michelle! Don't worry, it's NOT the crazy Southeast Asian Flu...I hope. *gulp*

Dear Son:
I sincerely hope you ARE feeling much better. I have been very busy the past week, and have not been keeping up with your recent postings. The NIH/NIAID - under my direction - hosted 2 meetings in DC to review proposed research offerings involving human respiratory pathogens. At the last minute, two of my international reviewers- who had committed to coming - had to decline suddenly. They are well-known experts on influenza, and were tapped by the WHO to go to Asia and investigate this Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), apparently of viral etiology and quite severe (causing a number of deaths). In any event, please call/email when you get a chance, and we'll talk.
Love,
Dad
